On Friday night, prior to the Real McCoys’ home opener, the franchise announced their inaugural class for the newly formed Dundas Real McCoys Hall of Fame.

To build a franchise that is successful at every level and has won every championship available at the Senior AAA level, you need to have a lot of dedicated people involved. From management, coaches, players and volunteers, it takes a lot of work to build to where the Dundas Real McCoys are a nationally recognized team. That is why the inaugural class to the team’s Hall of Fame are all in the builders category.

The Dundas Real McCoys are pleased to welcome to the Hall of Fame five men who have been with the organization from the very start, Dave Biehler, Bob Pearson, Jamie “Tuna” Lewis, Roger Oakes and Ron Moore.

Don Robertson, the McCoys President, said of this class, “All of these fine men have been with the Real McCoys since day 1 and put in thousands of hours of work helping make the Real McCoys the Real McCoys. The hard work and dedication have been noted. The organization and the community thank them.”

Dave Biehler is the McCoys Game Night Manager. Dave is constantly running around prior to and during the game making sure every detail is covered for the night, from the pre-game ceremonies to anthem singers, to giveaways. He makes sure that what goes on, besides the action on the ice, that fans are made to feel welcomed at the arena.

You may find Bob Pearson sitting in the same seats every game up in the McCoys end of the rink and just think he is a fan, but for the last 25 years he has been the creative mind behind every single program produced.

While every inductee is an unsung hero until now, Jamie “Tuna” Lewis is the life blood of the McCoys dressing room. Jamie has been the Equipment Manager right from the start. You can see him fixing skates and grabbing sticks for the players during the games, but it is all the hard work before and after that you do not see, spending at least three hours before and after each game, home and away, getting it all ready for the players.

Roger Oakes is our off-ice utility player. If a job needs to be covered, he is our man. From manning the ticket table to being security, Roger has done it all. No job is too small or too big for him, and he always has a smile waiting for every fan he interacts with.

Ron Moore is the team’s treasurer and has made sure that players are taken care of and the organization is fiscally responsible. Ron also mans the door as security every game.

On behalf of the organization and the community, congratulations to the inaugural class of the Dundas Real McCoys Hall of Fame.
