McCoys Can't Solve League Leaders in 7-3 Setback

The Dundas Real McCoys received goals from three different scorers on Friday night at J.L. Grightmire Arena, but it wasn't enough as they fell 7-3 to the league-leading Stoney Creek Tigers. Mackenzie Wood opened the scoring for Dundas with his 15th goal of the season at 3:36 of the first period. Stoney Creek answered just over three minutes later, but Ralph Taggart restored the McCoys' lead with 3:41 remaining in the frame.

The second period belonged to the Tigers, who scored four unanswered goals—including three in the opening three minutes—to take a 5-2 lead. Brad Bonello brought Dundas back within two with a power-play tally at 15:09, his fourth of the season.

New McCoy Doug ClarksonStoney Creek added two third-period insurance markers to seal the victory.

Mike Mole took the loss despite stopping 41 of 48 shots. With Friday's performance, Mole now sits just 35 minutes away from the 10,000-minute milestone.

The loss dropped the McCoys to fourth place with a 6-13-0-0 record, one point behind the Cambridge Hornets and two ahead of the St. Catharines Saints. That sets up a crucial matchup Saturday night when Dundas visits the Saints at Merritton Centennial Arena at 7:30 p.m.
