McCoys Drop Heartbreaker

Dundas played their final home game of 2025 on Friday night, hosting the St. Catharines Saints. It was a much different game than the last time the Saints visited the J.L. Grightmire Arena as they slipped past the McCoys by a final score of 5-4.

St. Catharines got on the board first and last in the opening period, but the McCoys scored a pair of their own sandwiched between them. Simon Mangos scored his second of the year while Mackenzie Wood got his seventh of the season.

The Saints regained the lead early in the second, but Phil Brewer tied it back up just before the halfway point of the second period. However, St. Catharines took the lead with a late power play goal.

In the third, the Saints went up by two 5:47 into the period. It remained that way with the McCoys pushing to get back in it. Wood would score to make it a one goal game with 1:13 left on the clock, but that was as close as they would get.

Dan Davies took the loss, allowing five goals on 24 shots.

While the McCoys lost on the ice, our team and community stepped up and put up a big W for the less fortunate. FansToys collected at the McCoys game for the CHCH Toy Drive dropped donations for the CHCH Toy Drive and every player donated as well. Because of this, many kids in our area will get a Christmas gift under the tree.

Dundas will be back in action for the final time in 2025 on Saturday night when they head to St. Catharines to try and do what the Saints did in our barn, stealing a victory. The next home game for the Real McCoys is on Friday, January 9th, 2026 when they host the Stoney Creek Tigers starting at 7:30pm.
