McCoys Drop Regular Season Finale To Saints

Ceremonial puck drop with first responders

Dundas looked to control their own destiny on Friday night. A single win was all the McCoys needed to secure their spot in the 2026 Robertson Cup Playoffs — but the St. Catharines Saints had other ideas, keeping their own postseason hopes alive with a 6-4 victory.

Before the puck dropped, the McCoys took a moment to honour the heroes in their community, recognizing the first responders who keep Dundas safe every day.

Once the action got underway, it was St. Catharines who struck first, just 35 seconds in. Slater Doggett answered for Dundas with his fifth of the season just over a minute later to even things up, but the Saints reclaimed the lead shortly after. Justin DaSilva — one of three McCoys players who serve as first responders — tied the game at two with his second of the year.

The second period is where St. Catharines took firm control, outscoring Dundas 3-1 in the frame. Igor Gongalsky provided the lone bright spot for the McCoys, potting a goal at 6:57 to keep it close for a spell. The teams traded goals in the third, with Brad Bonello's marker at 8:29 standing as a personal milestone — his 100th career ACHL goal — but it wasn't enough to spark a comeback on this night.

Mike Mole took the loss between the pipes, stopping 32 of the 38 shots he faced.

Despite failing to pick up points in their final regular season game, the McCoys appear to have done enough to secure the tiebreaker advantage over both the Saints and the Cambridge Hornets. Barring a dramatic shift in the standings, Dundas will finish fourth regardless of how Saturday's game between Cambridge and St. Catharines plays out.
